CUSTOM WINDOWS APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
 Custom windows software development has been around since the
late 1980's and has gone through numerous transitions and trends over
the past 20 years. We first started out developing windows-based
application using the C programming language which was a cumbersome and
time-consuming process. When Microsoft first debuted Visual Basic back
in 1990, almost every software developer considered it a "toy" which
pretty much described the first couple of versions.
By the time version 4.0 was released around 1995, there were many
developers who still though of it as a "toy", but many others along with
DSE started to see it's potential. Afterwards with the release of
version 5.0, it quickly became a preferred development tool and just
kept getting better and better with every new release.
Just about all of our custom windows applications are still developed
using Visual Basic 6.0 since with the debut of VB.NET, there came a lot
of overhead with the .NET Framework and way too many issues and problems
installing and running the applications under older versions of Windows.
By standardizing on VB6, all of our applications will still run under
Windows 95 through Windows XP thanks for a change to Microsoft not dropping this
support.
Using VB6, we can quickly put together a prototype of your final
application so that you can easily see a functioning version and how it
would be used on a daily basis. This also allows you to make subtle
changes to the interface before we start writing the code run the
completed application.
